Candlemas, also known as the Feast of the Presentation of the LORD and the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a beautiful and significant event in our liturgical calendar. It marks the presentation of Jesus at the Temple and the purification of Mary 40 days after the birth of our Lord. It is a time of reflection, prayer, and the blessing of candles, symbolizing the light of Christ shining in our lives.
This year, Candlemas falls on Sunday. Our parish has purchased beeswax candles which will be blessed during Mass. Each family is invited to take home a candle and light it at home.
To help defray the cost of the candles, a free will offering will be taken up or a donation may be made below.
