How long have you been members of the parish community and what originally drew you to St. Stephens?
Steve: Well, we moved here to Warwick in December of 1997 and we’ve been a member of the parish community since then.
What do you like most about living in Warwick?
Theresa: I love the feel of community. Just everybody rallies, no matter what happens, everybody is behind everybody else, it’s just a fabulous place to live.
Steve: And I like the fact that it’s rural, but we have everything we need here.
What’s one of your family Christmas traditions?
Steve: Christmas Eve, we watch “It’s a Wonderful Life,” and we have Sfingi, which is another word for zeppole.
Theresa: The kids are there, and it’s just, it’s our thing.
What three items would you want with you on a deserted island?
Steve: Matches, a fishing pole, and alcohol.
Theresa: I’d bring food too, but okay …
Steve: That’s what the fishing pole is for!
Theresa: Ohhh, okay …
Do you have role models, and if so, who and why?
Theresa: My husband is my role model because he’s the kindest, nicest, person I know. He’s very generous, very sweet, and makes me look bad, because I’m not!
Steve: Actually, I’m always trying to keep up with her. She makes me a better person.
What ministry or ministries are you involved with here at St. Stephens?
Steve: Well, I’ve been a Eucharistic Minister for oh, about twenty years. Served on Parish Council, I’ve been Trustee since before Fr. Jack. And also an usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Theresa: And I have the Eucharistic Minister, and the tag sales and the Christmas Market, which we’re running right now. And it is fabulous and it is just a really great … great financially for the church but it’s also just really nice to work with the ladies we work with.
Steve: Not to mention your eBay ministry.
Theresa: Oh, yes, and our eBay ministry!
How were you initially called to, or invited by someone, to either one of those ministries, or all of them
Steve: Well, we just responded to the announcements in the bulletin with the Eucharistic Minister, and Fr. Mike got me involved in Parish Council and as Trustee.
And how would you like to see either one or any of those ministries grow over the next few years?
Theresa: Well, I would love to see more people at our Christmas Market, at our tag sales. It’s a great, like I said, fundraiser for the church. We have a lot of fun and the parishioners have been incredibly generous. And come, it’s just a great thing to do, a great place to come to. And Eucharistic ministers, it really feels good to be able to serve in that ministry. Just being a part of St. Stephens has been tremendous, it’s more of a family feel than at that real, I don’t know, sacred – I mean it’s sacred, but it’s not that cold … it’s just such a warm place to be. So, I think anybody getting involved here is just fabulous.
Steve: And, we’re working with the Knights of Columbus, with a little group within the Knights of Columbus, to kind of expand the spirituality of the members of the Knights. So, we’re looking to see that grow.
Thank you guys so much!
